How to cross by bicycle

Article 63-6 of the Road Traffic Law

Any cyclists who intend to cross shall cross a road in a bicycle crossing zone if there is such a zone.
Since a crosswalk is for the pedestrian's use, you must get off your bicycle except when you don't hinder pedestrian's movement or there are no pedestrians in the crosswalk.

You must ride a bicycle on this way!

Duties to obey traffic lights

Article 7 of the Road Traffic Law

Punishment: Less than 3 month imprisonment or a fine of 50,000 yen or less
When passing through a road, pedestrians or vehicles must obey traffic lights.

Article 7 and Paragraph 4, Article 4 of the Road Traffic Law and Paragraph 4, Article 2 of Road Traffic Enforcement Ordinance

Punishment: Less than 3 month imprisonment or a fine of 50,000 yen or less
Where a traffic light with a human-shaped picture has a sign “For the use of pedestrians and bicycles,"  obey this traffic light.

When going through a crosswalk by bicycle, you shall obey a traffic light with a human-shaped picture.

Temporary stopping at designated places

Article 43 of the Road Traffic Law

Punishment: Less than 3 month imprisonment or a fine of 50,000 yen or less
At an intersection with a STOP sign, you shall temporary stop before a stop line and confirm the safety on both sides.

Come to a full stop and look both sides!
